The Journey of The Nubian Circle
The Nubian Circle was born out of a defining moment in history. In 2020, as the world watched the tragedy of George Floyd unfold and communities rose in protest, I found myself searching for my place in the fight. Unable to march but unwilling to stay silent, I chose a different path: to make an impact by building something for the Black community that could last beyond the moment.
In those early days, The Nubian Circle existed as an Instagram page dedicated to promoting Black-owned businesses. From lawyers and therapists to entrepreneurs and creatives, we highlighted the people and services that our community needed most, especially during the isolation and uncertainty of COVID-19. It was a way of saying: we are here, we are strong, and we can pour into one another.
Even though the mission was clear, I knew there was more to be done. I took a step back, not because the vision had failed, but because I wanted to make sure The Nubian Circle grew beyond a page on social media. I wanted to create a movement that touched people face-to-face, built relationships, and became part of the community’s everyday life.
That pause gave me perspective. It allowed me to reimagine The Nubian Circle, not just as a platform, but as a living space for connection, culture, and empowerment.
Stepping Back to Move Forward
A Rebirth and a New Vision (2024)
In 2024, The Nubian Circle resurfaced with a new identity and purpose. No longer just an online presence, it transformed into a community engine—one that fuels togetherness through action.
We began weaving our mission into experiences:
Charity Sports Events that bring people together while giving back.
Health & Wellness Programs that address issues disproportionately impacting our community.
Cultural Awareness Initiatives that remind us of our roots and celebrate our heritage.
Youth Engagement that ensures the next generation is empowered, educated, and uplifted.
Each event, each initiative, and each partnership reflects the same core belief: that Black unity, Black love, and Black excellence are not just ideals—they are living practices.
Building the Future Together
The Nubian Circle is more than a non profit; it is a collective promise. A promise to continue being present wherever our community needs us—whether that’s through health education, mentorship, cultural celebration, or creating opportunities to connect.
Our story began in a moment of urgency, but it has grown into a mission of longevity. The Nubian Circle exists to remind us that together, we can create spaces of healing, joy, and progress. And as we move forward, our vision is clear: to be an enduring aid in our community, always evolving with its needs, and always rooted in love, unity, and growth.
We chose the name The Nubian Circle with intention.
“Nubian” honors the strength, history, and beauty of ancient African civilizations a reminder that our roots run deep, and our legacy didn’t begin with struggle, but with royalty, innovation, and power. It’s a name that speaks to who we are and where we come from.
“Circle” represents unity, protection, and continuity. In many African traditions, the circle is sacred — it symbolizes community, wholeness, and movement without end. Everyone in the circle matters. Everyone has a role. Everyone is seen.
Together, The Nubian Circle is more than a name — it’s a declaration:
We are rooted. We are connected. We are building something that lasts.
